Millbrook Population and Demographics

Located in the southwest corner of Elmore County in central Alabama, the City of Millbrook is an attractive and rapidly growing area. The largest city in Elmore County, the City of Millbrook 2011 estimated population is 14,639 within the incorporated area and 35,814 within the Millbrook area zip codes. Population projections show the city’s growth at 11.39% for the five year period 2011 to 2016. Fast population growth has been the trend for two decades. For the period 2000 to 2011 the city grew 40.95%; 1990 to 2000 it grew 43.39%.

Geography & Weather Averages

Millbrook lies within the transitional zone between Alabama’s Piedmont Plateau and the Coastal Plain and is characterized by small gently rolling ridge tops of sandy loam soil, by hilly and gravely slopes and by range land.  The elevation ranges from less than 200 feet adjacent to the rivers to as much as 745 feet on the ridge tops in other areas.

Millbrook’s climate is characterized by long, warm summers and short, relatively mild winters. The average annual temperature is 65.5° F, with a 31.6° F difference between the average summer and winter temperatures.  The average summer temperature is 80.0° F and average winter temperature is 49.3° F. Frost and freezing occur 10 to 20 times annually. The average length of the frost free season is 236 days and the average annual precipitation is approximately 52 inches.
