West Elmore County has five public schools and five additional private and parochial schools in the area. The community is extremely supportive in the education of its' youth. Children entering kindergarten are evaluated by a nationally validated program, Early Prevention of School Failure. Our curriculum provides educational experiences tailored to the needs and the interest of the individual student. In high school, students may elect to follow either the Standard Diploma or the Advanced Academic Diploma. Every student is actively involved in an alcohol and drug program which teaches the devastating effects of alcohol and drugs.
Each school has at least one Guidance Counselor. Both elementary and secondary schools provide Special Education services. The following services are available for children ages 3 through 21. Deaf Education, Hearing impaired, Mentally Retarded, Gifted and Talented, Multi-disabled, Orthopedically impaired, Other Health Impaired, Emotional Conflict, Speech and Language Impaired, Visually Impaired, Specific Learning Disabilities, Traumatic Brain Injury, Autism.
Advanced and standard curriculum is offered and school bus transportation is available to all public schools.
An extended-day program is available in Millbrook for students in kindergarten through sixth grade. After school care, as well as holiday and summer care, is made available to parents for a small fee. A program for 3 and 4 year old children is available in Millbrook. A Tech Center in Wetumpka serves our high school students.
The residents of Millbrook, Coosada, Deatsville and Elmore enjoy easy access to colleges and universities in nearby Montgomery. In the City of Montgomery, there are five colleges; Alabama State University, Auburn university at Montgomery (AUM), Faulkner University, Huntingdon College and Troy State university in Montgomery (TSUM). There are two technical schools in Montgomery; Patterson State Technical College and Trenholm State Technical College.
The Millbrook Area Chamber of Commerce supports all of our area schools by offering complementary membership into the chamber. Programs to better educate our students are offered through a joint partnership.
