Welcome to Millbrook. We hope you enjoy your stay in our city; whether it is just a brief visit or you intend to make Millbrook home. We encourage you to become involved in community events through a wide variety of community service organizations, civic clubs, and/or religious organizations. We hope this Newcomer’s Guide is beneficial to you by making your transition into our neighborhood easier. Many of the Chamber’s members have separate home pages and e-mail addresses that are linked through our Members List. Please use them to obtain specific information about our members. Thanks for your interest. ELMORE COUNTY TAG AND TITLE SATELLITE OFFICE
Automobile, boat, trailer or RV tags and driver's license may be purchased at the Elmore County Satellite Office located adjacent to the Millbrook Public Library, 3160 Park Circle. This office is open Monday through Friday, 8AM until 4PM

VEHICLE REGISTRATION (Tag)
May be accomplished at the Elmore County Tag and Title Department, 100 East Commerce Street, Wetumpka or the Millbrook Satellite Office, 3160 Park Circle. All registration requirements will be the same at both locations.  You will be required to present proof of ownership.  A new vehicle purchased in-state requires a statement of origin and bill of sale.  You must register a new vehicle within ten days of the purchase.  If you have relocated from another state and have a current registration you must obtain an Alabama vehicle registration within 30 days. A new Alabama resident must register his vehicle in person [ the person appearing on the title/title application] and present title or copy of the title and last registration. Vehicle registration must be renewed annually.  Personal property tax and all tag fees are payable before the vehicle is registered.  For more information call 567-1166 in Wetumpka or 285 3054 in Millbrook.

MANUFACTURED HOME REGISTRATION
Required and is processed the same as a vehicle registration, unless it is assessed with the property, by the Elmore County Tag and Title Department at 100 East Commerce Street, Wetumpka. See VEHICLE REGISTRATION above for more information.

DRIVERS LICENSE
You are required to obtain an Alabama Drivers License upon establishing residence. You may renew your diriver's license at the Probate Judge Satellite Office, 3160 Park Circle on Monday through Friday between 8AM and 4Pm.  New licenses and all test requirements are administered at the Drivers License Examiners Office located at East Tallassee Street, Wetumpka.  To learn the times of written and driving tests, call 334.567.8871   Our of state residents must relinquishn their out of state drivers permit, and take the eye examination to obtain an Alabama License.  You will need to have birth certificate, social security card and out of state license and $5.00 cash. 

Driver's Learner's Permit may be obtained when an individual turns fifteen.  In addition to birth certificate and social security, teens must also provide proof of school enrollment. Upon satisfactoriily completing the required examination[s] the teen will be provided a certification by the examiner. This certification must be taken to the Probate Judge's Office at 100 East Commerce Street, Wetumpka where the license will be issued. A sixteen year old must have had their learner's permit at least 6 months.  The license is issured for four years.  Cash or check is acceptable.

CONSERVATION LICENSES (Hunting, Fishing, Boating, etc.)
These licences can also be purchased at many local business and on the Alabama Department of Conservatopm and Natural Resources web site: www.outdooralabama.com/licenses

All persons 12 years of age and older who operate a motorized vessel on Alabama waters must have an Alabama Boat Operators Certificate.  Information regarding these certificates are avaliable at the Millbrook location.

ELECTRIC SERVICE
Provided by Alabama Power Company or Central Alabama Electric Cooperative depending on your location. Alabama Power Company is located at 400 South Main Street in Wetumpka and they are open Monday - Friday. Residential service can be requested 24 hours a day by calling their Customer Service Center at 1-800-245-2244.Central Alabama Electric Cooperative is located at 1802 US Highway 31 North, Prattville, just north of Interstate 65, Exit 186 going toward Pine Level. Residential service can be requested 24 hours a day by calling their Customer Service Center at 1-800-545-5735.A small membership fee may be required. Both companies may require a deposit for residential service.

WATER SERVICE
May be provided by Millbrook Utilities, Tri-Community Water System, Marbury Water or Elmore Water Authority depending on your location. Millbrook Utilities provides water service in the Grandview Pines area, Tri-Community Water System generally services the area south of Alabama Highway 14, and Elmore Water Authority services north of Alabama Highway 14, except the area serviced by Millbrook Utilities. We recommend you verify your water service provider by calling the appropriate water system. Millbrook Utilities is located at 3841 Grandview Road, telephone 285-3001; Tri-Community Water System is also located in Millbrook at 2630 Main Street, telephone 285-4267; and Elmore Water Authority is on Airport Road, telephone 285-6109.

SANITARY SEWER SERVICE
Available through Millbrook Utilities to many areas of our city, including areas that are served by another water provider. Contact Millbrook Utilities at 285-3001 to determine sewer service availability for your location.

NATURAL GAS SERVICE
Provided by Alabama Gas Company. Their office is located at 235 Lee Street, Montgomery. You may apply for service in person or call 263-2341 Monday Friday. A security deposit or letter of credit from your previous gas or electric company is required. Electricity and water must be turned on prior to receiving natural gas service, and one-day notice is required.

LOCAL TELEPHONE SERVICE
Provided by AT&T. For service or to place an order call 557-6500, 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and follow the instructions. Our local calling area (no long distance charges) includes Montgomery, Prattville, Elmore, Coosada, Deatsville, and Wetumpka. LONG DISTANCE TELEPHONE SERVICE
Available through many companies. ATT will bill your long distance carrier and include their charges in your local telephone statement monthly.

WASTE DISPOSAL (Garbage Collection)
Depending on your address, disposal servicer will be provided by SunFlower, located in Tallassee- 334] 252-0458 or by Waste Management in Montgomery - 265-8542. Residential curbside pick-up is limited to normal household items. We encourage you to be environmentally responsible and use the City of Millbrook’s Recycle Program when possible.

RECYCLE CENTER
City of Millbrook Recycle Center is located on Grandview Road between Fire Station #1 and Municipal Park.  The center is accessible twenty-four hours a day and is self-serving unloading. Most recyclable items, except glass, are accepted.  The City does not charge for this service, nor do they pay for disposed items.  Help keep Alabama Green.

ENHANCED 911
Provided throughout Elmore County and provides a quick listing for emergency personnel to locate you by displaying the name, address, and telephone number on the E911 operator’s screen for all calls received. If the E911 address for your business or residence is not known, call their administrative office at 567-1182 to obtain the correct location (address).All new construction will require a correct E911 address.

PROPERTY TAX
We are fortunate to have very reasonable property taxes in our area. The Elmore County Revenue Commissioner at the 100 East Commerce Street, Wetumpka, processes all property tax matters. Your primary residence may qualify for a homestead exemption. Contact the Revenue Commissioner’s office at 567-1118 for more information or to determine your liability.

BUSINESS LICENSE/PERMITS
Contact the City Clerk's Office if you are located within the city limits or police jurisdiction. The Millbrook City Clerk is located in City Hall, 3390 Main Street and the telephone number is 285-6428.  If your business is located in Elmore County's jurisdiction, not within a city's limits or police jurisdiction, contact the Elmore County Probate Judge at 567-1139.  Located at 100 East Commerce Street, Wetumpka.  

VOTER REGISTRATION
All qualified residents are encouraged to participate in the election of our government officials. Alabama requires residents to be registered to vote at least ten days before an election in order to participate. The Board of Registrars is located at 100 East Commerce Street, Wetumpka. For additional information, call 567-1150.

HEALTH CARE
We are fortunate to have several health care professionals in our area. You are encouraged to review our list of members for the specific health care requirements you have. If you have an emergency health situation that requires immediate treatment or transportation to emergency medical services call 911.The nearest hospital facility is Baptist Health, Prattville.  In addition to ambulance service, Air Evac helicopter service is also available. Millbrook is proud of the city's Emergency Medical Technicians that serve with the Millbrook Fire Department.  Military personnel may use the Maxwell Air Force Base medical facilities.

W.E.L.C.O.M.E./ West Elmore County Outreach Mission Extension
Provides basic needs assistance to families and individuals who reside in West Elmore County. It is supported by local churches and individuals that volunteer both time and money for their program. Individuals may make donations of money or small items that would be needed by others that may be less fortunate. W.E.L.C.O.M.E is located on Main Street in Millbrook and is open Monday through Wednesday and Friday (closed Thursday) from 10:00 AM – 1:00 PM. Contact Ms. Sara Thomas at 285-0150 for more information or to volunteer your support.
